AFTER A YEAR, NICOLE RITCHIE GETS BACK HER LICENSE!

Socialite NICOLE RICHIE is back behind the wheel a year after she was convicted of driving under the influence (DUI). The former Simple Life star's license was officially changed from 'suspended' to 'restricted' on 19 September (08), according to Los Angeles Department of Motor Vehicles records.

Richie served 82 minutes behind bars and had to undertake an 18-month anti-DUI course after she was caught driving the wrong way down a freeway ramp road. As a restricted license holder, Richie can now use her car for work-related activities.

I guess she will be more careful handling the new passenger!

HEATHER LOCKLEAR ARRESTED AND SPENDS THE NIGHT IN JAIL FOR DUI SUSPICION!

Two months after leaving an Arizona treatment facility, Heather Locklear was in police custody Saturday night. The actress, who had been battling anxiety and depression, was arrested and held in Santa Barbara County, according to the California Highway Patrol. No details of charges were yet available, and she was released Sunday. Locklear's rep had no comment.

UPDATE: Locklear, no longer in custody, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol and booked around 8 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Alex Tipolt of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department.

CHP spokesman, Tom Marshall, says the arresting officer noticed Locklear's car parked on a state highway and blocking a lane in Montecito, a wealthy community about 90 miles
northwest of Los Angeles.

Locklear was believed to be under the influence of prescription medication, but he did not know what kind, Marshall said. He says Locklear was not under the influence of alcohol.

Locklear was released on her own recognizance, without having to post bail.

The 47-year-old actress is best known for television shows such as " Melrose Place" and "Spin City."

Her arrest could set up a bizarre custody battle given that Locklear and ex-husband Richie Sambora have both been busted on similar charges.

Sambora pleaded no contest to DUI back in March. His daughter Ava was in the car at the time he was popped. Locklear's children reportedly were not in the car when she was arrested.

In June, Locklear checked herself into an Arizona medical facility to fight anxiety and depression.

George Michael arrested over drugs possession.

English singer songwriter George Michael has been arrested by police after he was caught in a public bathroom with crack cocaine in his possession.

Michael was caught when passers-by, who saw him hanging around the toilet of a notorious gay cruising haunt at 10 in the morning, reported the incident to the police.

The singer, who was found to be in a 'confused state' and wondering around near Hampstead Heath, North London, was detained for five hours by cops for questioning on September 19 as they suspected him of having taken drugs.

"It's not clear how long he'd been there as the loos are locked for the night," the Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

Cops searched the singer and found two substances on him, crack cocaine and cannabis.

Though he was not charged, Michael, 45, agreed to take an official caution, which will put the whole incident on file.

"He was found with crack and cannabis," a pal of the star said.

"It's sad to see him in such a state he's been held for drugs before, but I've never heard of him using crack.

"That's not good. He seems to have a self-destruct button which he can't help pressing," the pal added.

The police issued a statement regarding the arrest, and confirmed that there were no charges.

"I can confirm that a 45-year-old man was arrested in the Hampstead Heath area on September 19 on suspicion of possession of drugs," a Met Police spokesman said.

"He was taken to a North London police station where he accepted an official caution and was released with no further action. The drugs were Class A and Class C," the spokesman added.

A spokesman for the singer was not available for comment last night.

RYAN O'NEAL AND HIS SON REDMOND (2nd time in 2008) ARRESTED FOR DRUGS TODAY!

Authorities say they have arrested Redmond O'Neal son of Ryan O'Neal on suspicion of having drugs in their Malibu home. Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says authorities went to O'Neal's home Wednesday morning for a routine check on his son Redmond, who was given three years probation after pleading guilty to drug possession charges in June.

Whitmore says deputies and probation officers also found narcotics in Ryan O'Neal's living area and arrested him. Whitmore declined to say what drugs were found but word online says it was Methamphetamine (Meth). Both men remain in custody on $10,000 bail and could be charged with felony possession of narcotics.

Just this past Summer Ryan's other child, grown daughter Tatum O'Neal was busted for crack in NYC.

POPULAR CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR Charged With 3 DUIs in 8 Days!

The image “http://www.marshall.usc.edu/assets/017/6727.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

If Prof Hunker is not a celebrity to his students, who is? Prosecutors on Thursday asked a judge to jail a computer science professor who was charged with drunken driving three times in eight days, because they are afraid he might harm himself or someone else.

Carnegie Mellon University professor Jeffrey Hunker, 51, of Pittsburgh, was arrested for driving under the influence three times between Aug. 17 and Sunday. In the first case, police said Hunker drove through a neighbor's yard, ran over a small tree and hit a house.

In the second, Hunker was seen at the wheel of his heavily damaged car. A police officer pulled him over and said Hunker failed a field sobriety test and a blood alcohol test. The third arrest came Sunday after someone called police to report that Hunker was suicidal. By the time an officer arrived, Hunker had driven off in a new BMW. Police tracked him down and he was arrested after admitting he had consumed a pint of vodka.

Hunker did not return messages left by The Associated Press. The Allegheny County District Attorney on Thursday filed a bond-revocation motion, which a judge will hear Friday morning, prosecutors' spokesman Mike Manko said.

Prosecutors asked the judge to jail Hunker at least until a preliminary hearing Sept. 9, because he is suicidal and a danger to the community, Manko said. The judge on Thursday added a condition to Hunker's bond that bans him from driving, so police can take him into custody if he violates it, Manko said.

Hunker was computer security director in the Clinton administration before he was hired as dean of Carnegie Mellon's H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management in 2001.
Hunker took personal leave as dean, and was replaced by Mark Wessel, who resigned earlier this month over questions about a master's degree awarded to a student.

Carnegie Mellon University officials have not commented on Hunker's status, citing personnel rules.

CANADA NEEDS THIS TOO: Drunken-driving fatalities drop in 32 U.S states.

Drunken-driving deaths fell in 32 states in 2007, the government reported Thursday.

Nearly 13,000 people were killed in crashes in which the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08, the legal limit in the United States, or at higher levels. Overall, alcohol deaths were down nearly 4 percent compared with 2006, when nearly 13,500 people died on the highway.

Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said she was disappointed by the increase in deaths involving drunk motorcycle riders. A total of 1,621 motorcyclists were killed in alcohol-impaired crashes in 2007, an increase of 7.5 percent.

Motorcycle riders have been featured in the government's $13 million advertising campaign surrounding the Labor Day holiday. Law enforcement agencies are increasing their enforcement against drunken driving during the end of the summer.

Rapper DMX guilty of trying to buy drugs in Miami.

Rap star DMX pleaded guilty to trying to buy cocaine and marijuana in Miami and was awaiting extradition to Arizona on outstanding drug charges there, his lawyer said on Thursday. The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, entered the plea on Wednesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court and was sentenced to time served, said his lawyer Bradford Cohen. He was jailed two or three days after his July arrest on a charge of trying to buy illegal drugs from an undercover police officer during a street corner sting, Cohen said.

Simmons was initially released on bond on the Florida charge, but was arrested two weeks ago on the outstanding warrant from Arizona during a traffic check outside a Wal-Mart store and then denied bond. Rather than stay jailed until after a trial set for October, he pleaded guilty in the Florida case and agreed to be extradited to Arizona, where he expects to be released on bond, Cohen said.

"He got shafted on this one," said Cohen, who said the evidence in the Florida drug sting was weak and flawed.

The former One Day at a Time star and supposedly recovering addict was busted at Los Angeles International Airport on cocaine and heroin possession Wednesday morning, according to TMZ.com. Officers responded to a call at Terminal 4 where the 48-year-old Phillips was being screened by TSA. During the screening, TSA recovered baggies and balloons believed to be filled with cocaine and heroin.

Phillips is currently in custody. The actress, who has battled drugs since her sitcom days in the seventies, is the daughter of Mamas and Papas founder and singer John Phillips and was once the step-daughter of Michelle Phillips. Phillips' One Day at a Time co-star Valerie Bertinelli also battled cocaine addiction in the early eighties but has since gone on to become a Jenny Craig spokeswoman, pen a book, and land her own sitcom to air this fall.
